General Service and Replacing FRUs

Removing and Replacing Front Bezels

The front bezels are the design panels on the front of both the 5U Library Control Module and the 9U
Expansion Modules. The front bezels help to differentiate the Dell PowerVault ML6000 from other libraries
and protect the interior components of the library.

These instructions explain how to replace the front bezels of the library. You may need to replace the front
bezels if they are damaged.

Bezels can be replaced on both the I/E station door and the access door.

Required tools:

T10 TORX screwdriver, for removing and replacing the screws on the back of the I/E

station door and the access door

Replacing Front Bezels of the I/E Station

Open the I/E station door.

Remove the tape cartridges from the I/E station to access the screw located on the back of the I/E
station door.

3

Using the screwdriver, remove the screw located on the back of the I/E station door. Set the screw
aside.

4

Hold the I/E station slide assembly in place with one hand. Using your other hand, pull the I/E station
door directly up to disengage the bolts, and then pull the door toward you.

5

Set aside the old front bezels.

Note

Replacing the bezels on the access door requires you to open the access door,
which temporarily disables the robot assembly.

CAUTION

The library will not be able to locate tapes that are removed from one
partition and returned to a different partition. The tapes must be
returned to the same partition they were removed from. Since the
library assigns slots to a partition, you must create a map to locate
each tape or create a map of tape slots that belong to each partition.
