The following sections provide overviews for installing hard disk drives, tape
drives, CD-ROM drives, and external storage devices.
The ProLiant 6000 supports up to three internal hard-drive cages, which are
capable of supporting up to eighteen hot-plug hard drives. Each internal drive
cage is capable of configuring a maximum of:
■
Six 1-inch hard drives (SCSI IDs 0 - 5) or
■
Four 1.6-inch hard drives (SCSI IDs 0, 1, 3, and 4)
NOTE
: The three drive cages can support a total of eighteen 1-inch hard
drives, twelve 1.6-inch hard drives, or a mixture of the two. A mixture of 1-
inch and 1.6-inch hard drives can be supported within the same internal drive
cage.
The server ships with the top two removable media drive bays occupied by a
3.5-inch diskette drive and an IDE CD-ROM drive. The server supports four
additional half-height 5.25-inch removable media drive bays.
The following illustration shows an internal drive cage, with six 1-inch hard
drives (0 - 5) installed. The removable media area has four available bays
(0 - 3), a CD-ROM drive (4), and a diskette drive (5).
