SCSI Hard Drive Installation Guidelines
The following guidelines should be noted when adding SCSI hard drives:
■
A maximum of six SCSI devices may be added for each of the three
ProLiant 6000 internal drive cages. SCSI ID 6 is not used within the
internal drive cage, and SCSI ID 7 is reserved for the controller.
■
If only one SCSI hard drive is used, it should be installed in the lowest
numbered bay. If several drives are installed, the system boot drive should be
installed in the lowest numbered bay.
■
In order to maintain proper system cooling, blanking panel should be
installed in unused drive bays.
The server supports Smart Array 3100ES controllers with three internal Wide-
Ultra SCSI-3 connectors on the I/O board. If installed, each connector is cabled
directly to each internal hard-drive cage. If it is not installed, the dual integrated
Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 controller has two SCSI connectors for internal removable
media and for the first internal hard-drive cage. One integrated Wide-Ultra
SCSI-3 controller is cabled to an external VHDCI knockout.
