Stores configuration information in nonvolatile memory
■
Assists in the running of software and firmware diagnostics tools such as
INSPECT, Diagnostics (DIAGS), Drive Array Advanced Diagnostics
(DAAD), ROMPaq, and Automatic Server Recovery (ASR-2)
The first time the server is configured, SmartStart automatically creates a
system partition and installs the configuration utility and other Compaq utilities
in that partition.
Software Utilities
Compaq servers running Windows NT take advantage of several utilities that
provide detailed information and offer special capabilities.

Compaq Power Down Manager
■
Compaq Power Supply Viewer
■
Compaq Integrated Management Log Viewer
The utilities are provided on the Compaq Support Software for Microsoft
Windows NT 4.0 diskettes (Windows NT SSD). For more detailed information,
refer to the Systems Reference Library and the NTREADME.HLP file on
Diskette 1.
Compaq Insight Manager
Compaq Insight Manager is a systems management tool delivering fault,
performance, and configuration management for Compaq servers and clients.
Compaq Insight Manager has two components:

Compaq Insight Manager software, which run on the management
console
■
Compaq Insight Manager agents (operating system-specific), which run
on the server or managed desktop client
Compaq Insight Manager features an easy-to-use graphical interface, and
includes online documentation and context-sensitive help. Key features include:

Forwards server alert fault conditions
■
Monitors fault conditions and server performance
