COMPAQ CONFIDENTIAL - NEED TO KNOW REQUIRED
Installing More DIMM Memory
To install a Compaq DIMM:
1.
If the server is on, place it in Standby mode and disconnect the power
cord(s). See Chapter 2, “Server Installation and Start Up.”
2.
Remove the right side access panel. See Chapter 3, “Server Operation.”
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot
surfaces, allow the internal system components to cool before
touching them.
3.
Remove the appropriate memory expansion board. See “Removing and
Replacing a Memory Expansion Board” earlier in this chapter.
4.
Place the memory expansion board, components facing up, on a flat
surface.
CAUTION:
The ejectors prevent the memory expansion board
from laying completely flat. Inserting a DIMM without counter
pressure applied behind the socket to the back of the expansion
board can cause the memory expansion board to flex and could
result in damage. Always support the memory expansion board or
apply counter pressure while inserting a DIMM.
