1. Install governor pipes on control valve assembly.

G overnor pipes are interchangeable.

2. Install governor screen assem bly, open end first, into

governor feed pipe hole in case (hole nearest the center o f

the transm ission) (Fig. 7A -183C ).

If transm ission is in vehicle, before installing the

control valve assem bly and governor pipes as outlined in

Step 3 below, insert the governor screen, closed end first,

into governor feed pipe. (This pipe locates in the governor

feed pipe h ole in the case nearest the center o f the

transm ission). See Figure 7A -183C ).

3. Install control valve assem bly and governor pipes on

transm ission, w hile carefully aligning the governor feed pipe

over the governor screen (Fig. 7A -184C ). M ake certain

gasket and spacer do not becom e m ispositioned.

Check m anual valve to m ake sure it is indexed properly

w ith pin on detent lever and check governor pipes to m ake

certain they are properly seated in case holes.

4. Start control valve assem bly attaching bolts. If

transm ission is in the vehicle, rem ove feeler stock before

tightening any control valve bolts.

5. R em ove guide pins and install detent roller and

spring assem bly and rem aining bolts (Fig. 7A -185C ).

IN S T A L L A T IO N OF FILTER A N D IN T A K E PIPE

1. Install case to intake pipe "O" ring seal on intake

pipe and assem ble into filter assem bly.

2. Install filter and intake pipe assem bly (Fig. 7A -8C ).

It is recom m ended that the filter be replaced, rather than

cleaned, w henever the transm ission is disassembled.

3. Install filter retainer bolt (Fig. 7A -7C ).

4. Install new bottom pan gasket and bottom pan, with

attaching screws. Torque to 12 ft. lbs.
