6. 

If  necessary  to  replace  speedom eter  drive  gear,

 

proceed  as  follows:

a.  D epress  speedom eter  drive  gear  clip.

b.  R em ove  gear  and  clip,  tapping  gear  lightly  with

 

plastic  hammer.

NOTICE: 

M ake  sure  speedom eter  drive  gear  is  located

so  speedom eter  driven  gear  will  m esh  with  it.

c.  Place speedom eter drive gear clip with the tanged end

 

in  the  correct  hole  in  the  output  shaft  (Figure  7A 1-72).

d.  A lign  the  slot o f  the  speedom eter  drive gear with  the

 

clip  and  install  the  gear.

Steel  Speedometer  Drive  Gear

1.  Install  speedom eter  gear  rem oving  T ool  J -2 1427-01

 

and  suitable  puller  such  as  J-8433  on  output  shaft  and

 

rem ove  speedom eter  drive  gear.  (Figure  7A 1-73).

2.  Place  front  end  o f shaft  on  block  o f  wood  to  prevent

 

dam aging  the  front  end.
