Shaft A ssem blies that have been disassembled in the field
(A lso see Figure ID -58).
3. Install new dowel pins in front cylinder half, if
previously removed.
4. Install Front Suction R eed Plate on front cylinder
half. A lign w ith dowel pins, suction ports, oil return slot,
and discharge cross-over tube (Figure ID -63).
5. Install Front D ischarge Valve Plate assembly (it has
a large diam eter hole in the center), aligning holes with
dow el pins and proper openings in front suction reed plate
(Figure ID -6 4 and Figure ID -65.)
6. Coat sealing surfaces on webs o f com pressor front
head casting w ith clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

A ssem bly. Mark position o f dow el pins on sides o f Front
H ead assem bly and on sides o f Internal Cylinder and Shaft
A ssem bly with a grease pencil. Carefully lower Front Head
casting into position (Figure ID -66), making certain that
sealing area around center bore o f head assembly does not
contact shaft as head assembly is lowered. D o not rotate
head assem bly to line up with dow el pins, as the sealing
areas would then contact the reed retainers.
8. G enerously lubricate new O-ring and angled groove
at low er edge o f front head casting with 525 viscosity
refrigerant oil and install new O-ring into groove (Figure
ID -67).

9. Coat inside m achined surfaces o f com pressor shell
with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil and position shell on
Internal C ylinder and Shaft A ssem bly, resting on O-ring
seal.

U sin g flat-side o f a sm all screwdriver, gently
position O-ring in around circum ference o f Internal
Cylinder and Shaft A ssem bly until C om pressor Shell slides
down over Internal C ylinder and Shaft A ssem bly. A s shell
slides down, line up oil sum p with oil intake tube hole
(Figure ID -68).
