Production built transm issions use a direct clutch

h ousin g w ith a check ball (See Fig. 7A -100C ). If the

housing requires replacem ent and the replacem ent

housing does not contain a check ball, replace the

direct clu tch piston w ith the service piston w hich has

a check ball (M odels CB, C D and CL service piston

4. Place seal protectors, T ools J-21362 Inner, J-21409

Outer, over hub and clutch housing and install clutch

piston, w ith a rotating m otion (Fig. 7A -101C ).

5. Install fourteen (14) springs into piston leaving two

pockets diagonally opposite w ith no springs.

6. Place spring retainer and snap ring on retainer.
