(Figure 7A 5-72)
Disassembly
1. R em ove low and reverse clutch to sun gear shell
thrust washer.
2. R em ove low and reverse overrun clutch inner race
from support (Figure 7A 5-73).
3. R em ove low and reverse clutch roller clutch
retaining ring (Figure 7A 5-74).
4. R em ove low and reverse roller clutch assembly.

Inspection
1. Inspect roller clutch inner and outer race for
scratches and indentations.
2. Inspect rollers for wear and roller springs for
distortion.
Reassembly
1. Install low and reverse roller clutch assembly to
outer race w ith oil holes toward rear o f transmission.
2. Install low and reverse overrun clutch inner race.
3. Install low and reverse clutch to cam retaining ring.
Low and reverse overrun clutch inner race should free
w heel in the clockwise direction only.
INTERM EDIATE SERVO
Place tool J-22269 in a vise and place the interm ediate
servo in tool J-22269 (Figure 7A 5-77). Com press the servo
piston enough to allow rem oval o f the "E" ring retainer.
R em ove the apply piston, spring, and pilot. Place a socket
behind servo retainer as shown in Figure 7A 5-78 and
com press cushion piston to allow removal o f "E" ring
retainer. Inspect (Figure 7A 5-76) oil seal rings on pistons.
R em ove
only
if replacem ent is required. Inspect servo rod
seal, replace if necessary.
