UNIT REPAIR (OVERHAUL)

MANUAL

CAUTION

This vehicle contains som e parts dim ensioned in the m etric system

as w e ll as in the custom ary system. Som e fasteners are m etric and

are very d ose in dimension to fam iliar custom ary fasteners in the

inch system. It is im p o rtan t to note that, during any vehicle m a in te
nance procedures, re p la c e m e n t fasteners m u s t have the sam e

m easurem ents an d strength as those rem oved, w h eth er m etric or

customary. (Num bers on the heads o f m etric bolts and on surfaces

o f m etric nuts indicate their strength. Custom ary bolts use radial

lines fo r this purpose, w hile m o s t custom ary nuts do n o t have

strength markings.) M ism atch ed or incorrect fasteners can result in

vehicle dam age or malfunction, or possibly personal injury. There

fore, fasteners rem oved from the vehicle should be saved for re-use

in the sam e locations w henever possible. Where the fasteners are

n o t satisfactory for re-use, care should be taken to select a re

p la c e m e n t th a t m atches the original. For inform ation and assis
