4. Inspect the b earin g re ta in e r fo r cracks, im p erfec­
tions, corrosion, pits a n d grooves.
5. R eplace p a rts as req u ired .
Reassembly
1. L ubricate all parts w ith hypoid lubricant.
2. Press p in io n re a r b e a rin g onto drive p in io n as
shown in figure 13E, using J-24433.
3. Install the fro n t and re a r p in io n b e a rin g cups into
the b earin g retain er, using d riv e r h an d le J-8092 on
J-8608 fo r the fro n t cup, an d on J-24432 for the
re a r cup.
4. Install the p in io n strad d le b e a rin g into the carrie r
housing, using driver h a n d le J-8092 an d in staller
J-23322, as shown in figure 14E.
5. Place b earin g retain er, w ith cups in position, onto
