Disassembly
1. Rem ove ring gear a n d side b earin g s follow ing the
procedures established fo r the con v en tio n al d iffer­
en tial unit.

For all models except Corvette,
rem ove the p relo ad
sp rin g re ta in e r and sp rin g s by ta p p in g on the
sp rin g re ta in e r th rough the o b serv a tio n hole in the
case. See F ig u re 3D. D rive the sp rin g re ta in e r from
the case sufficiently to allow in sertio n o f a 1/4 inch
bolt in each o f the two fro n t springs. Secure each
bolt w ith a n u t as in F ig u re 4D .

On Corvette
it will be necessary to raise the sp rin g
retain ers slightly to clear the sh o u ld er on the side
gears. Install Tool J-22311 to clutch pack so th at
slotted ends are equally en g ag ed at fro n t and re a r
o f spring re tain er. See F ig u re 5D.

5. Position sp rin g pack in vise a n d rem ove 1/4 inch
bolts. A ltern ately relieve " C " clam p pressure and
vise pressure un til sp rin g com pression is relieved.
