V ehicles w ith 8 1 /2 " rin g g e a r o r 8 7 /8 " rin g g ear axles
use three optional lim ited slip differentials, nam ely
C hevrolet, E aton and Borg W a rn e r. C orvette uses only
the E ato n unit.
The Borg W a rn e r u nit is not re p a ira b le except for
differential side b earings a n d m ust be replaced w ith
eith e r a C hevrolet or an E ato n P ositraction differential
unit, if service is necessary. See figure ID.
All truck 10 1 /2 " ring g e a r axles p ro d u ced by C hevrolet
use an o p tional E aton Positive L ocking differen tial th at
is serviced as an assem bly only. Truck 10 1 /2 " rin g g ear
axles produced by D a n a use only the o p tio n al D a n a
Pow er-Lok, shown in figure 17D.
O verhaul procedures fo r lim ited slip axles are the sam e
as fo r s ta n d a rd axles, ex cep t fo r th e
follow ing
operations.
