Appendix 4 Use of MODBUS Communication
ALPHA6000S/ ALPHA6000Vcan use the programmable logic controller (PLC) and other upper devices to conduct
the data exchange through MODBUS-RTU communication protocol.
Constitution of MODBUS Communication
The communication data busbar is a main controller (PLC) and 1~31 frequency inverters. The signal is
transmitted from the main controller and the frequency inverter responds to it.
The main controller conducts the signal transmission with 1 frequency inverter. All frequency inverters
should have their own address codes. The main controller transmits signals according to the specified codes.
The frequency inverters will function after receiving the commands from the main controller and feed back
the response to the main controller.

Description of the communication connecting terminal
MODBUS communications adopts the terminals 485+ and 485-. In addition, the terminal resistors are
switched as follows. In the case of RS-RS-485 communication, please put the ON/OFF switch 1 and 2 of
SW6 at the side of ON when the terminal frequency inverter is viewed from PLC.
Notice for Wring
(1) The communication cables should be separated from the main circuit cables and other power cables & electric
cables.
(2) Shielded cables should be used as the communication cables. The shielding layer should be connected to the
earthing terminal of frequency inverter, while the other end will not be connected. (To prevent malfunction
caused by disturbance)
The sequence to have communication with PLC is as follows:
1. When the power supply is cut off, connect the communication cable between PLC and
ALPHA6000S/ALPHA6000V.
2. Supply the power.
3. Set the parameters required by communication on the keypad (P0.03, P0.04, P0.07, P0.11, P7.00, P7.01,
P7.03, P7.04, P8.11, P9.19, Pd.02, Pd.04 and Pb.00~Pb.06).
