Alternates and Audiences preset options
Alternates and Audiences options are available for streaming-media formats such as
QuickTime, RealMedia, and Windows Media. Alternates and Audiences are different
names that describe the same concept—providing output variations for different network
speeds or equipment configurations. For example, Windows Media includes Alternates
such as “Dial-up modems (56 Kbps)” and “Broadband or cable modem/DSL (384 Kbps).”
To edit options for Alternates or Audiences:
Click the name of an Alternate or Audience and specify options in the panel on the right.

mation, see the media vendor’s documentation for the selected format.
