3.11.1. Preparing for CO
2
Concentration Measurement
Before start measuring it is necessary:
Select the required ventilation adapter (adult, neonatal). The adapter windows must be dry
and clean. If necessary, clean or replace the adapter.
Connect the adapter with the capnograph sensor. Align the marks on the adapter and sen-
sor and connect until they snap into place.
Using the connector (Fig. 3-21, position 3) connect the capnograph module to the
“Infoport” connector of the device (Fig. 1-4, position 10). Switch on the device if it is
off.
Switch on the required type of capnometer ("mainstream") in the general parameters
setting menu (it. 1.3.8).
Switch on the window of capnogram curve display in one of the configurable graph-
ical curve display windows (it. 1.3.5).
Wait until the end of the warm-up interval of the capnograph.
The capnograph warm-up interval is about 2 minutes. In this case, the mes-
sage "Warming up" is displayed in the capnogram output field.
Carry out zero calibration of the capnograph in accordance with it. 3.11.4.
Insert the ventilation adapter between the elbow and the tee of the ventilation circuit
acording to the diagram in fig. 3-22.

The adapter windows should be vertical to the ground when installing the
adapter. This will reduce or completely prevent patient secretions from en-
tering the adapter windows.
