2.4 NIBP Measurement
103
During measurements, make sure that the limb where the cuff is installed is
always at the level of the heart, otherwise the measurement results may be
distorted.
You can control the process of measuring blood pressure in the NIBP channel window (see Fig.
2-21), while during the measurement you can observe the current value of the pressure in the
cuff (Fig. 2-21, position 6).
1 - field for setting the top threshold for systolic blood pressure;
2 - symbol of the sound alarm control for the NIBP channel;
3 - field for setting the bottom threshold for systolic blood pressure;
4 - results of the previous BP measurement
– syst / diast (mean);
5 - results of the last BP measurement
– mean;
6 - current pressure in the cuff (mmHg);
7 - field for setting the bottom threshold for diastolic blood pressure;
8 - start NIBP measurement;
9 - field for setting the measurement mode of the NIBP channel;
10 - field for setting the top threshold for diastolic blood pressure;
11 - pulse rate in the last cycle of blood pressure measurement;
12 - results of the last BP measurement
– diastolic;
13 - field of BP measurement units selection mmHg/kPa;
14 - results of the last BP measurement
– systolic.
Figure 2-21. Window of NIBP channel
If the pressure in the cuff is not enough to take a measurement, the device
automatically performs additional inflation.
When the required level of pressure in the cuff is reached, device performs an automatic step-
wise removing the air from it. After determining the systolic, diastolic and mean pressure, a rap-
id release of pressure in the cuff occurs and their measured values appear in the NIBP channel
window (see Fig. 2-21, positions 5, 11, 12), while the results of the previous blood pressure
measurement are overwritten in the position of the previous measurement (see Fig. 2-21, posi-
tion 4).
The measured values will be displayed until the end of the next cycle of blood pressure meas-
urement (in automatic mode) or for three minutes after the end of the measurement (in manual
mode). Then they will be overwritten in the window of the previous measurement (see Fig. 2-21,
position 4)
If a reliable blood pressure measurement cannot be performed due to the
patient's motor activity or a low level of recorded pulsations, then instead of
the blood pressure value, blinking symbols "- - / - -" are displayed, and after
30 seconds, a second measurement attempt is made (maximum 2 attempts
automatically).
