2.4 NIBP Measurement
102
For children of older age groups, it is allowed to take measurements in adult
mode in the range of 0 - 300 mmHg using the appropriate cuffs. Make sure
that the patient has really high blood pressure.
The device has increased resistance to artifacts caused by patient motion, external influences
on the cuff, as well as to the effect of arrhythmia, however, take into account that this reduces
the measurement accuracy and increases the pumping pressure and measurement time.
Measurement of blood pressure can be carried out both in automatic and manual mode. Re-
member that initially, when the device is turned on (or after forced exit from the blood pressure
measurement cycle), the NIBP measurement is always in the "OFF" mode.
In automatic mode ("AUTO") blood pressure measurements are performed with a set value of
the blood pressure measurement period (from 1 to 240 min).
You can set the measurement mode and the interval of automatic measurement in accordance
with the it.1.3.14.
To start the cycles of measuring blood pressure in automatic mode, press the symbol for start-
ing the measurement in the NIBP channel window, or the "NIBP" button on the front panel of the
device.
Setting the value of the period of measurement of blood pressure itself does
not yet run the measurement cycle. It begins only after pressing the "NIBP"
button on the front panel of the device.
In manual mode ("MAN."), blood pressure measurement is performed each time only after
pressing the measurement start symbol in the NIBP channel window or after pressing the
"NIBP" button on the front panel of the device.
The set blood pressure measurement mode is saved even when the device
is turned off, however, after a system reset, the initial default values are re-
stored: AUTO measurement mode with a measurement interval of 5
minutes.
When taking blood pressure measurements in automatic mode, regularly
check the condition of the skin at the site of the cuff application, as well as
the color, temperature and sensitivity of the limb. If the skin condition
changes or blood circulation in the limp is impaired, stop measurements
immediately or change the cuff location.
To stop measuring blood pressure at any time, press the stop measurement
symbol in the NIBP channel window or the "NIBP" button on the front panel
of the device.
During the measurement, the patient should be motionless. Movement or
mechanical stress on the cuff may distort the measurement results.
The accuracy of BP measurement corresponds B / B class according to the
BHS (British Hypertension Society) protocol, if the recommendations in this
section of the present manual are followed.
If the cuff is damaged or if it is not installed on the patient, the BP meas-
urement cycle is automatically interrupted and the NIBP measurement
switches to the
«OFF» mode with the message «CUFF NOT CONNECTED!».
To resume the cycle, check the state of the cuff and its application to the
patient and again press the symbol for starting the measurement in the
NIBP channel window or the "NIBP" button of the device.
Avoid using cuffs with signs of wear or damage. To avoid damage, do not
inflate a cuff that is not attached to the patient's limb.
