Grounding. Connect the device only to a three-wire, grounded, hospital-grade receptacle.
The three-conductor plug must be inserted into a properly wired three-wire receptacle; if a
three-wire receptacle is not available, a qualified electrician must install one in accordance
with the governing electrical code. Do not under any circumstances remove the grounding
conductor from the power plug. Do not use extension cords or adapters of any type. The
power cord and plug must be intact and undamaged.
If there is any doubt about the integrity of the protective earth conductor arrangement, oper-
ate the device on internal battery power until the AC power supply protective conductor is ful-
ly functional.
To ensure patient electrical isolation, connect only to other equipment with electronically iso-
lated circuits.
Do not use the device or Masimo oximetry sensors during magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI) scanning. Induced current could potentially cause burns. The device may affect the
MRI image, and the MRI unit may affect the accuracy of the oximetry measurements.
As with all medical equipment, carefully route patient cabling to reduce the possibility of pa-
tient entanglement or strangulation.
Check alarm limits each time the device is used to ensure that they are appropriate for the
patient being monitored.
CONTROL
To start working with the module, connect the corresponding sensor to the "SpO2" connector
on the side panel of the device and select the photoplethysmogram curve in one of the con-
figurable graphical windows for displaying curves (p. 1.3.5).
In the window of the pulse oximetry channel (Fig. 2-6a) set the parameters necessary for op-
eration.
1 - filling column;
2 - measured value of the perfusion index PI;
3 - averaging time, graphic button to select averaging time;
4 - sensitivity mode, graphic button to select sensitivity mode;
5 - photoplethysmogram (PPG).

The "Averaging" parameter allows the clinician to adjust the time during which the displayed
SpO2, PR, PI readings are averaged, depending on the patient's mobility and the require-
ments for the prompt display of changes in patient parameters. For example, for mobile pa-
tients it is recommended to set the maximum averaging time to 16 s, and for sleep monitor-
ing 2 to 4 s. The default averaging time is set to 8 s. To adjust the parameter, press the
graphic button with the set averaging time value and select the required value:
