Chapter 05:
Securing Your Sahara Slate PC
5.
A window will appear asking you to create a TPM password.
Tap on
Automatically
to have Windows create a secure
password for you.
6.
A new window
will appear
prompting you
to save your
TPM ownership
password, which
is displayed
for you along
with an option
to
Save the
Password
to a
removable drive
such as a USB
memory stick,
and another
to
the
password. You
must choose to
do at least one
of these options
in order to
continue.
VERY IMPOR-
TANT:
Regardless
of which option
you choose to
save your TPM
ownership pass-
word, it is
critical
you
do not lose
this password,
or any data you
encrypt could
be lost to you
forever.
There is
no way to circumvent or recover this password if you lose it.
Owning the TPM is a critical step in securing your system. To
create the password we recommend letting Windows create
one for you for maximum security.
Saving your password is critical to protecting your data, and
so you must choose one of the above steps to continue. You
will not be able to initialize/take ownership of the TPM until
you choose an option.
