Drive Shaft / Axle: 3A-2

Front Drive Shaft Assembly Removal and
Installation

S3RH0B3106003

Removal

1) Undo caulking (“A”) and remove drive shaft nut (1)

and washer.

2) Hoist vehicle.
3) Remove wheel.
4) Remove engine undercovers.
5) Drain transaxle oil referring to “Manual Transaxle Oil

Change in Section 5B in related manual” for M/T
model, “A/T Fluid Change in Section 5A” for A/T
model.

6) Drain transfer oil (4WD model).
7) Remove tie-rod end split pin (1) and castle nut (2).

8) Disconnect tie-rod end (3) from steering knuckle (4)

by using special tool.

Special tool
(A): 09913-65210

9) Pull out drive shaft joint (2) as follows.

• For vehicle without center shaft

Using tire lever (1), pull out drive shaft joint (2) so
as to release snap ring fitting of joint spline at
differential side.

• For vehicle with center shaft

Using plastic hammer (3), drive out drive shaft
joint (2) so as to release snap ring fitting of joint
spline at center shaft.

11. Center shaft side joint (RH of M/T model)

: Apply light black grease included in spare part to joint.

[C]: Center shaft (M/T model)

12. Wheel side joint

: Apply black grease included in spare part to joint.

[D]: Center shaft (A/T model)

13. Center bearing support

1. Differential side joint (LH of A/T model)

: Apply light green grease included in spare part to joint.

14. Center bearing

2. Boot (Differential or center shaft side)

15. Circlip

3. Circlip

16. Center shaft

4. Boot band (Small)

17. Center shaft side joint (RH of A/T model)

: Apply orange grease included in spare part to joint.

5. Snap ring

18. O-ring

: Apply grease 99000-25010 to all round of O-ring.

6. Wheel side joint

: Apply black grease included in spare part to joint.

19. Center bearing support bolt

7. Boot (Wheel side)

20. Oil seal

: Apply grease 99000-25010 to seal lip.

8. Boot band (Large)

: Tightening torque

9. Differential side joint (LH of M/T model)

: Apply light black grease included in spare part to joint.

: Do not reuse.
