If optimizing the lamp intensity cannot be done easily using the above procedure,

Setting Up a NPD

WARNING

To avoid injury, Do Not

Nitrogen Phosphorus Detectors (NPD) use hydrogen gas. Before

you turn on the hydrogen gas to the NPD, ensure that a column is

connected to the NPD fitting inside the oven. Turning on the

hydrogen gas without first connecting a column to the NPD could

create the possibility of an explosion in the oven.
