10.9.4 Mounting the new stage and cell combination
1. Check the membrane shape.
l
Make sure the rubber membrane on the sample
stage is properly formed as shown in the photo.

2. Check for O-rings.

The cell body above has the O-ring (230.039) missing.
l
The cell body below has a properly seated O-ring.
3. Place O-rings if necessary.
l
If no O-ring (230.039) is present, place it in the bot-
tom of the port, up against the glass.
l
If the O-ring is not properly centered, remove it
(preferably with a sharp wooden stick) and replace it.
l
If you are gentle with the cell, the O-rings should stay
in place during the next steps.
4. Prepare to route the cable.
Note:
This step requires that the engage stage was
fully raised before the scanner was unplugged.
l
Hold the stage/cell as shown and tuck the cable con-
nector under the engage ring using the “platypus”
tweezers.
