Planning and Installing a Wireless LAN
This chapter helps you plan a BayStack 660 Wireless LAN. Follow the processes
outlined in this chapter to effectively set up a wireless LAN and to plan resources.

Equipment Requirements
The equipment required to perform an initial site survey is minimal. No network
connection is required for the preliminary calculations. The items required are:
•
Blueprints, floor plans, and other engineering information on the building and
environment into which the BayStack 660 Wireless LAN will be installed.
•
BayStack 660 Access Point and power supply (included).
•
A mobile unit (with Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT installed)
with at least one Type II PCMCIA slot.
The mobile unit must have a BayStack 660 PC Card and also the BayStack
Utilities software installed.
Additional items might be required, depending on the site survey methods you
chose.
