Assigning a Dynamic IP Address
The AP Manager assigns an IP address to the access point each time the access
point starts up or reboots, using the entries in the BOOTP table. If you want to
permanently assign an IP address, go to
“Adding a New IP Address” on page 4-3
.
To dynamically assign an IP address:
1.
Choose Tools > BOOTP Table.
The BOOTP dialog box (
Figure 5-9
) opens.
2.
Click the Assign Dynamic IP Addresses check box.
3.
Click OK.
The IP addresses will now be assigned dynamically.
Viewing the AP Manager Version
You can check the version of software currently running on an access point.
To check the version:
•
Choose > About.
The About window opens and displays the AP Manager version number.
Note:
If you have a DHCP server, the access point obtains an IP address from
this server. You can then use the AP manager to change the address if needed. If a
DHCP server is available on the network, the access point receives its IP address
directly from it. Manual intervention is not necessary.
