Failure Analysis Procedure
As described in the Chapter 2
“Hardware,”
the server is configured with CRU and FRU which
are replaceable modules/units in the installation environment of the customer.
This section describes the analyzing procedure of CRU (Customer
Replacement Unit).
When the status LED of EXPRESSSCOPE
®
Monitor lights other than green during the server
operation, except when the power is off, the status indicates the server has failure.
In this case, select
“View Faults”
in the EXPRESSSCOPE
®
Monitor to check if there is any
failure or failure indication.
FRU displayed on
“View Faults”
is the highest possibility (or suspected) parts of the cause of
failure.
Example) The following example shows the FRU name as PSU, the power supply unit. From the
FRU Location, the power supply unit of the slot 3 is the most suspected one.
• FRU Name
: PSU
…Power Supply Unit
• Server Number

Server 1 and the
Server2 (shared) (

• FRU Location

…Indicating the position is the Power Supply Unit #3.
If the FRU Name displayed on
“View Faults”
corresponds any of the following four types, the
parts can be replaced by customer. Refer to

for the replacement procedure.
