6. Control Panels

Overview

PC GUI 

This older software control panel executes on a PC (and can run remotely). The user interface emu-
lates the hardware of the FFCP, but there are a few slight differences. The GUI can be used with a 
touchscreen PC allowing operators to press buttons directly with their fingers. (The use of a mouse 
and other such pointing devices is supported of course.) 

CFCP

The CFCP is a smaller version of the FFCP. It has an LCD touchscreen that displays a menu sys-
tem. The CFCP has a slightly reduced set of definable function buttons. 

It has a total of 16 button pairs that can be configured as main source buttons, video effect buttons, 
or audio over buttons, as needed. The CFCP’s button set is more configurable than that of the 
FFCP. Like the FFCP, the CFCP can accept an optional “transition lever arm” (TLA) which is a 
manual transition control device. See

The CFCP is designed so that you can place it in a recess in the surface of an operator’s console.

SCP

The SCP is a newer control panel and a slight departure from the format of the previous models. It 
is a slim 3RU rack-mountable control panel. It employs a set of LCD function buttons that display 
up to 3 lines of text in several colors and two brightness levels. The SCP conveys information using 
color, text, and graphics. 

The SCP has no LCD touchscreen, and no individually definable function buttons, but replaces 
these  items with a hierarchical  menu that uses  8 LCD buttons. The menu  is  highly configurable and 
displays status as well as accepting an operator’s commands.
