4. MCPMs
Other General Features
• Set the EBR to “bypass.”
This behavior is used in conjunction with the emergency bypass control panel (EBCP).
• Set the EBR to “normal.”
This behavior is used in conjunction with the emergency bypass control panel (EBCP).
• Disabled. The MCPM ignores the GPI input.
Typically, router outputs connect to the bypass input connectors. This allows, for example, the same
program to continue to broadcast during the emergency or break, albeit without the transitions and
effects provided by the MCPM.
Another use of the bypass BNCs would be to provide a “technical difficulties” message.
Router Pre-Select
Router pre-select means that the panel operator chooses a router source manually prior to executing
a master control transition.
A router destination (one or more outputs) is connected to one or more frame inputs. Without any
further controls, an NV9000 operator can take a router source to the router destination as long as at
least one of an MCPM’s main sources or over sources is configured to allow it.
(The configuration for router pre-select is partly in the MCPM and partly in a panel.) A main or
over source is configured in MasterConfig to be a router pre-select source. The panel is configured
with router source categories (up to 10).
The operator may choose a main or over source configured for router pre-select, then select a router
source through the ‘Router Preselect’ menu of the panel. The operator chooses the source based on
a category/index identifier and presses a button to execute the take. The router source is now con-
nected to the router destination which is connected at the frame input. If the MC system has a pre-
view monitor, the source appears on the monitor (unless of course it is LOS).
External Router Sources
“External router sources” is a feature that can be enabled or disabled in an MCPM during configu-
ration. Control panel operators need not be aware of it. Persons installing master control systems
and configuring MCPMs (and MCEs) must take it into consideration. When enabled, external
router sources impose some cabling constraints on the frame and might impose some design con-
straints on the NV9000 router control system. (An NV9000 control system is a requirement if your
system will support external router sources.)
“External router sources” involves these concepts:
• External router sources include main sources, audio over sources, key sources, and squeeze
image sources (background and image 2).
S
Router pre-select involves mains and overs only.
External router sources are added to whichever source list applies during configuration. For
instance, when an external main source is defined, it is added to the main source list. Subse-
quently, the external source is simply one of many main sources.
The number of external sources is limited to the number of list entries allowed in the MCPM
configuration. Currently, the limits are:
