3. Frames
Overview
Inputs and Outputs
The frame has 8 input card slots and 8 output card slots. The 8 input slots are in the middle, with 4
output slots on either side. All I/O cards provide 16 connections. The frame allows up to 128 input
connections and up to 128 output connections. Figure 3-1 shows a front view of an NV5128-MC
frame with a sampling of I/O cards and MCPMs:

• An MCPM (HD) in slots 1 and 2.
• An MCPM (SD) in slots 15 and 16.
• Two SWB input cards in slots 5 and 6.
• Two SD input cards in slots 9 and 10.
• Two audio cards in slots 11 and 12.
• Two router output cards (SD) in slots 13 and 14.
• Two (EM0374) router control cards.

Note the two “wing” slots of the MCPM-HD. The wing slots accept optional SWB router out-
put cards.
