5. MCEs
Structure
• Dual Dolby decoders supporting overs on the program and preset buses. (Refer to Figure 5-2.)
Decoders A, B, C, and D support program and preset main audio.
Decoders E, F, G, and H support
program and preset over
audio.
• Dual Dolby decoders supporting main sources on the preview bus. (Refer to Figure 5-3.)
Decoders A, B, C, and D support program and preset main audio.
Decoders E and F support
preview
main
audio. (Decoders G and H are not needed.)
S
Dolby metadata outputs are available on the AXM backplane. The 8 metadata ports are config-
urable.
S
Dolby E requires a non-interlaced video reference format. Dolby E works with 720p video
sources when the reference is 525i, 625i, or 1080i.
The audio crosspoint accepts discrete audio inputs directly and accepts embedded audio after it
passes through a disembedder. Each disembedder produces 16 channels (8 AES pairs) as shown in
Figure 5-1.
Discrete audio inputs are “stereo” inputs. The MCE treats the separate stereo channels as distinct.
During MCE configuration, you can select any of up to 128 single, a.k.a. “mono,” channels at any
time. (AES input pairs are numbered in the range 65–128.)
An MCE has 16 internal audio processing channels (per bus). Any or all of these can be associated
with a main video source. You can combine different audio types on these channels as you wish.
The MCE also accepts up to 16 discrete or embedded audio over inputs for program, preset, and
preview. Figure 5-1 shows the schema for MCEs without dual Dolby decoders:
