6. Control Panels
CECP
“Dim” function for monitor A and for monitor B can be configured as customer-programmable
buttons.
5 Program audio control
The program audio section includes 2 rotary knobs for adjusting (1) the output level of the
source selected on program and (2) the over/main ratio for the program bus.
Preset levels and ratios must be adjusted using the menus.
6 Program / preset button rows
The program bus corresponds to what is on program output at present. The preset bus allows
you to premix a source with video effects and audio overs in preparation for a transition to the
program bus.
The program and preset “buses” include two rows of 16 buttons used for audio and video
source selections, video effects, and audio overs. Each button is dynamically “re-legendable.”
The purpose of each of the 16 button pairs is configurable.
The leftmost buttons are main source buttons. The rightmost buttons can be configured as main
sources, video effects (including XG keyer layers), or audio overs. (Video effects and audio
overs cannot be duplicated but might be absent.)
Using a bank select button and 2 “virtual” main source button banks, A and B, an operator can
access 16 virtual main source buttons (and potentially thousands of sources).
S
It is the MCPM or MCE that performs the effects and overs, and the order in which it
applies them does not change.
S
Some MCPMs do not support all video effects.
7 Preview button row.
The preview bus (in the MCE) and the preview button row (on the CECP) allow an operator to
view video sources in combination with video effects without affecting program or preset out-
put and therefore without interfering with automation.
The preview button row looks just like the preset and program button rows (except that XG
layer buttons are disabled). Operating the preview bus is the same as operating the preset bus.
The preview bus output appears at ‘Preview Output A’ of the PVW backplane. (Preview Output
B is presently a copy of preview output A.)
S
The preview bus is active (enabled) only when the CECP is controlling an MCE.
S
The CECP M1 has no preview bus.
8 Aux button row.
There are 2 aux buses in the MCE, bus A and bus B. Each has an output on the CORE back-
plane. Either one or both of these can be configured to output what is selected on the aux button
row of a control panel. These buses can be also configured for other functions
not
related to the
panel’s aux button row.
If the aux button row is not completely populated with main source buttons, some number of
“aux delegate” buttons can be configured at the rightmost end of the aux button row. (If you do
not have at least one aux delegate button, what happens when you press a main source on the
aux button row is difficult to determinate.)
S
The aux button row is active (enabled) only when the CECP is controlling an MCE.
S
The aux button row is not necessarily connected to the MCE’s aux bus.
