deep. It has
only one mounting option: it sits on a console or desk top.
Arrayed on the front of the panel are 92 color-coded LCD buttons, a touchscreen LCD with 8 asso-
ciated control knobs, 4 audio knobs (a.k.a. rotary encoders), and a joystick. Each LCD button
shows 3 lines of text, 8 characters per line. The LCD buttons are green, amber, red, blue, white, or
violet
—
off, low-tally, or high-tally. Red is generally used to indicate an error condition.
Figure 6 -8. CECP (front view)
The CECP has 4 rows of 16 buttons. Informally, we call these rows the preset bus, the program bus,
the preview bus, and the aux bus. When the CECP is controlling an MCE, the preview bus and aux
bus are active (enabled). For other MCPMs, they are inactive. All 4 buses are configurable.
S
Reminder: the buses exist in the MCPM or MCE under control. The button rows are patterned
after the buses and control the buses. It is safe to think of the button row as a bus.
The preset, program, and preview buttons are identical. On these 3 buses, the leftmost buttons are
main source buttons and the rightmost buttons can be configured as main sources, video effects, or
audio overs. All 16 buttons could be main sources. Up to 8 buttons can be video effects (including
2 XG keyer layers). Up to 2 buttons can be audio overs. The video effect and audio over buttons
match on all 3 of these buses.
The aux bus is different. The leftmost buttons are main source buttons and these correspond to the
main source buttons on the preset, program, and preview buses. The rightmost aux buttons not
committed to main sources can be “aux delegates”
—
buttons that select the function of the aux but-
ton row.
