Transiti on Lever Arm
In a PB transition, the position of the lever between limits is also analogous to the mix of Preset
and Program, but in a different way. When the lever reaches the second extend, the transition is
at its mid-point and more importantly, the MCPM’s program output displays a predefined
matte. After the lever reaches the mid-point, the transition cannot go back. It can only go for-
ward to completion.
For example, in a V-fade transition, as the lever arm traverse from the first extent to the second,
program output fades to matte. After the midpoint, the program fades from matte to the new
source on program output.
See
Transitions
, on page 58, for information about transition types.
The transition lever arm connects to the FFCP or CFCP with a single DB15 cable (included).
Power for the lever arm assembly is supplied by the control panel. Inside the control panel, switch
S1-8 must be set to the “ON” position to enable the lever arm option:

Operation
Normally, the TLA will be in the disabled state with the lever positioned at either limit. The
‘Enable’ button will be low-tally and both limit indicators will be “off.” If the lever is not at a limit,
both limit indicators will illuminate as a reminder to move the lever to either limit.
The operator presses the ‘Enable’ button to start a manual transition. The transition type and class
will have been selected at the control panel previously. The ‘Enable’ button will go high-tally and
the limit indicator opposite from the lever position will illuminate. The limit indicator(s) show the
direction
the lever should be moved.
Except for PB transitions, one can cancel a manual transition as long as the lever has not moved to
the end limit. To cancel a manual transition, an operator moves the lever back to the start limit. The
original source and original video effects will be left on the program bus. The ‘Enable’ button will
go low-tally, indicating the TLA is disarmed.
When the MCPM is in transition, regardless of whether the transition has resulted from pressing the
‘Transition’ button or using the TLA, changes to keyers, logos, and squeezeback settings are not
permitted.
