6. Control Panels
SCP
The button is bright orange for non-pre-roll transitions. It is low-tally red and the word “Pre-
roll” appears on the button when a pre-roll transition is pending.
Pressing the transition button initiates a transition in the MCPM or MCE currently controlled
by the SCP. Operators can change the transition rate and type using the menu (if the SCP con-
figuration permits it).
(See
Transitions
on page 58.)
SCP Connectors
At the rear of the SCP are 2 power connectors, an Ethernet connector, and a GPI/alarm connector.
(See Figure 6-7 on page 119.)
Power
There are 2 power connectors, PS1 and PS2, for the sake of redundancy. You need not use both if
you are not concerned with redundancy. (The SCP comes with a PS0001 power supply.) The power
supply plugs are keyed so that you cannot insert the plugs the wrong way:
Ethernet
The SCP has one RJ-45 Ethernet connector. The SCP connects to the Ethernet switch on the master
control network.
It is on this network that the SCP communicates with MCPMs and with the configuration software.
You (or your system administrator) must provide a unique IP address for the SCP.
Without the IP address, the SCP cannot communicate with either the MCPMs or the configuration
software. Use the Panel ID menu under the Panel Menu to set the IP address and IP subnet mask.
The default IP address is 192.168.7.100. and the subnet mask must always be 255.255.255.0.
GPI/Alarm
The SCP has a DB25 connector that supports GPI inputs, GPI outputs, and alarms:
Refer to the GPI section in the
SCP User’s Guide
for connection information.
See
GPI/Alarms
on page 188 for more information.
