4. MCPMs

MCPM Architecture

2 V-Fade (or fade-fade)

Program video mixes to matte (in the first half of the transition period) and then mixes from
matte to the new source. Audio fades to silence (in the first half of the transition period) and
then fades from silence to the new source.

Video effects fade on and off as required. Audio overs fade on and off as required.

3 Cross Fade (or X-fade)

Program and preset video mix, with the program component decreasing and the preset compo-
nent increasing. Program and preset audio mix, with the program component decreasing and the
preset component increasing.

Video effects fade on or off as required. Audio overs fade on or off as required.

4 Fade/Cut

Video fades to matte (over the entire transition period) and switches instantly at the end to the
new source. Audio fades to silence (over the entire transition period) and “quick fades” at the
end to the new source. (The audio quick-fade starts 3 frames before the end.)

Video effects fade on or off as required and then cut on or off as required. Audio overs fade on
or off as required and then quick-fade on or off as required.
