19. A dialog box appears so you can give the reference a recognizable name to make it easier to add the reference
later when editing the test configuration. An asset reference such as the manufacturer and the corresponding lead
number are common elements to include in the name.
Fig 90:
Saving reference for Known Good Motor Lead 1—3-phase motor example.
NOTE: In the case of testing single coils, you might want to include something like “L1 or L2” in the
name to identify which lead will be driven during the coil test. In the Coil Test screen, a toggle icon
identifies which lead—L1 or L2—is being driven for each step in a two-direction test.
Correlating this direction with the physical connection of the coil can have a significant impact on the
accuracy of the readings for coils that a significant physical difference between lead 1 and lead 2.
20. Touch the Lead 2 icon to switch to the next lead for testing then repeat the process for acquiring a reference
waveform for this lead.
21. Repeat the process if you will use a third reference.
NOTE: Surge waveforms can be very different on any given asset, so applying the surge pulse to each lead
can be valuable for ensuring consistent and repeatable test results over time.
22. After saving references for all leads related to the asset, edit the active test configuration.
