NOTE
Packet communication is still available
when Wi-Fi is turned on. However, if the
FOMA terminal is connected to a Wi-Fi
network, the Wi-Fi network takes
precedence. When the Wi-Fi network is
disconnected, the FOMA terminal
automatically connects to the 3G/GPRS
network. Note that using the FOMA terminal
on 3G/GPRS network incurs packet
communications charges.
You can reduce battery consumption by
turning off Wi-Fi when you are not using it.
Radio wave interference
with Bluetooth devices
Since a Bluetooth device and a wireless LAN
(IEEE802.11b/g/n) device use the same
frequency ranges (2.4GHz), radio wave
interference may occur when the Bluetooth
device is used near a device equipped with a
wireless LAN. This may cause deterioration in
the communication speed, noise and
connection problems. Also, this may interrupt
the communication and voice during
streaming data playback.
If this occurs, take the following measures:
Keep a distance of at the nearest 10 m
from a wireless LAN device when you
connect the Bluetooth device or the FOMA
terminal.
Turn off the Bluetooth device in case you
should use the Bluetooth device within 10
m from the wireless LAN device.
● Wi-Fi network status
When the FOMA terminal is connected to a
Wi-Fi network, the status bar shows
. When
the network notification is enabled and if an
unprotected Wi-Fi network is detected, the
status bar always shows
.
● Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
1
From the Home screen,
m
→ "Settings" → "Wireless &
networks".
2
"Wi-Fi"
•
If this checkbox is marked, it means
that a Wi-Fi network is available.
3
"Wi-Fi settings"
4
Tap the Wi-Fi network that
you want to connect to.
•
If you try to connect to a protected Wi-
Fi network, you will be prompted to
enter the security key for that Wi-Fi
network. Tap the "Password" box, enter
the network password and tap
"Connect".
•
Usually, when entering a password,
only the most recently entered
character is displayed and previously
entered characters are just
represented by "・".
