PROBABLE
CAUSES
1. Defective MPWM2 card.
2. Defective wiring.
3. Defective AGFI current sensor
FAULT
ISOLATION
1. Switch OFF all breakers. Connect DC ammeter 0-10Amps to wire
terminals AGC (+) and AGF (-) at AGPR interlocks.
2. Switch ON MB1, MB2, MFPB1, MFPB2, FPB and MPCB breakers.
3. Change the display mode to ‘Auxiliary’ under ‘Display’ option
available in main menu.
4. Check the Auxiliary Field current AGFI.
5. If current in the meter is equal to the displayed current of AGFI,
A. PWM output card is defective. Replace the card.
B. There may be a short externally from AGC to locomotive 4 wire.
6. If current in the meter is zero and AGFI indicating some value then
the current sensor is faulty. Replace the current sensor.
7. If both the currents are zero,
A. There could be an external short between Auxiliary Generator
field LSS and locomotive 4 wire. Identify and remove the short
circuit.
B. There could be an internal short between LSS and LAA in side
the machine.
