BKT Contact Open for Traction Motor 4 in Dynamic Braking
RESTRICTIONS
--
ALARM BELL
5 sec.
RESET LEVEL
LOW, Manual
If the fault condition is still present when cleared manually, the fault
will be generated again.
FAULT
RECOVERY
Automatic when current detected through corresponding Traction Motor
current sensor (TM # AI).
PROBABLE
CAUSES
Any open circuit in the grid circuit of TM4 will log this during Dynamic
Braking.
1. Grid resistor open circuit / connecting cables open circuited.
2. Open circuit of BKT contact in TM4 grid circuit.
3. Open circuit of TM4 armature.
4. Defective current sensor.
5. Defective inter connecting cables.
6. Defective ADB module.
7. Defective MAIP8_WS card.
FAULT
ISOLATION
1. Download the fault data pack and ensure there is no ‘Traction Motor
4 Current Sensor faulty’ message after the above message. If the
message is logged, trouble shoot as per fault code 1192.
2. Check for TM4 circuit open fault message logged after the above
message. If the message is logged trouble shoot as per fault code
1058.
3. If there is no TM4 Current Sensor faulty message:
A. Check the continuity of grid resistor, identify and replace the
open circuited grid resistor.
B. Check for any over heated / burnt cable connections at grid
resistors and BKT contacts. Replace any burnt / over heated grid
cables.
C. Check for any foreign insulating material in between BKT
contacts. Remove foreign material.
D. Manually operate BKT to Braking side and observe the contacts
for proper closing. If any contact is not closing, in Braking side
attend to BKT contacts. If necessary replace BKT.
