Accessing the Switch
After initial configuration, you can access the switch in one of three ways (see
Figure 5-2
):
•
Serial console access—You can use a serial port connection to access the CLI.
•
In-band IP (IPFC) access—You can use Telnet or SSH to access a switch in the Cisco MDS 9000
Family or use SNMP to connect to a Cisco MDS 9000 Fabric Manager application.
•
Out-of-band (10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet) access—You can use Telnet or SSH to access a switch
in the Cisco MDS 9000 Family or use SNMP to connect to a Cisco MDS 9000 Fabric Manager
application. Supervisor-1 modules support 10/100 BASE-T Ethernet and Supervisor-2 modules
support 10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet.
