Two tapered roller bearings on the small bevel gear shaft

 are pre-loaded. Wear of the bearing can result in axial 

play  of  the  small  bevel  gear.  This  can  reduce  the  bearing  pre-tightening  force.  Therefore  inspection  shall  be 

performed periodically (at level-3 maintenance). Adjustment: Measure the width A between the two bearings. Apply 

an axial force of 350N to the bearings. Then measure the width B between the two bearings. Select a shim which is

=A-B in thickness. Install the shim in place. Tighten the round nuts, and lock them using a washer.
