Power ventilation: How it works
Power ventilation is one of the three ventilation modes supported by EDGE. It uses fans and sidewall
inlets to pull air in fro the outside and circulate it within the barn.
House/barn set point
The set point is the temperature to be maintained in the house/barn. You can adjust the set point at any-
time from the house/barn temperature page in the setup menu
. It can also be changed for a defined
period of time in the house/barn temperature page.
Set point temperatures can also be dictated by a temperature curve if a curve is enabled in the house/
barn temperature setup menu.
Night temperature set point
The night house/barn temperature set point behaves like a regular set point change, except that the
change is not abrupt, it happens over 10 ventilation cycles at the beginning of the night set point and at
the beginning of the day set point. The difference between the night set point and the actual set point is
maintained when a set point curve is activated.
Minimum ventilation
Minimum ventilation is the minimum airflow (generally expressed in CFM/head ) needed to reduce gas
and humidity exhaust and to offer a fresh air supply. The minimum ventilation required increases as ani-
mals grow.
Power bandwidth
Power ventilation bandwidth is the difference in degrees between the house/barn temperature set point
and the temperature at which maximum Power ventilation capability is reached. Bandwidth is independ-
ent of animal number, but dependent on animal age. When animals are young, the system requires a
higher bandwidth to move slowly and gradually to a house/barn temperature change to prevent from
