Chapter 4: Software version and configuration file management
• Don’t start or end your filename with a space, period, hyphen, or underline
• Keep your filenames to a reasonable length and be sure they are under 31
characters
• Most operating systems are case sensitive; always use lowercase
• Avoid using spaces and underscores; use a hyphen instead
Delete
Permanently deletes the selected file from the USB drive. A message asking you to
confirm you want to delete the file is displayed.
Updating the software
There are many reasons for wanting to import or export your controller configuration onto a USB key such
as wanting to copy your controller configuration to another EDGE controller on another site or simply as a
backup. Having the latest software and firmware in your controller allows you to have access to all new
features and improvements.
1. Press on main menu
on the top left hand side of the screen.
2. Press on
Software update
from the drop down menu.
3. Press on the line displaying the component you want to update in the left hand pane. You can
choose between updating the complete system, just the EDGE Main Controller, or one of the Expan-
sion Boxes.
Tip
The components with an
icon beside them are out of date.
4. Press on the file you would like to use. You can only choose one file at a time from either the USB
stick or a previously uploaded file.
5. Press on
Update
if you want to update the component, or press on
Restart
if you want to reboot the
EDGE Main Controller or selected Expansion Box.
Deleting a module
1. Press on the System configuration icon
at the top of the screen.
2. Select Module detection on the left hand side of the screen.
3. Select the Expansion Box containing the module you want to delete, and then select the module you
want to delete.
4. Press on the delete icon

A message prompting you to confirm you want to delete the module is displayed. The equipment
connected to the module will be unusable.
5. Press on
Ok
to delete the module.
Restriction
A module can’t be deleted if the house/barn is in production mode. You must first stop production.
