VII. DETECTING JAMS
A. Outline
As many as 17 sensors are arrange as shown in Figure 5-701 to monitor the
movement of copy paper.
The microprocessor reads in the signals coming from each of the sensors at such
times as programmed to identify the presence of a jam. When it finds a jam, it causes all
sheets moving ahead of the jam to be discharged, and stops the machine.
The control panel will offer instructions on how to remove jams after the suspension
of operation.
