Options
You can configure global settings for your Revit installation. Global settings include
■
General options: Save notifications, user name, and journal file clean-up.
■
Graphics options: Enable hardware acceleration for improved display performance, configure colors for
selection, highlight, background, and error messages, and enable anti-aliasing for 3D views.
■
File location options: Specify paths for files and directories.
■
Rendering options: Specify paths for files used for render appearances and decals, and specify the location
of the ArchVision Content Manager (ACM), if needed.
■
Spelling options: Specify options for the spell checker.
■
SteeringWheels options: Specify options for the SteeringWheels view navigation tools.
■
ViewCube options: Specify options for the ViewCube navigation tool.
You can specify options at all times, including when the drawing area is blank.

Specify general, graphics, file location, rendering, spelling, SteeringWheels, and ViewCube
options.

General Options
Click the General tab of the
to set notifications, user names, and journal file cleanup.
Notifications
■
Specify a time value for the Save Reminder interval.
■
Specify a time value for the Synchronize with Central Reminder interval.
■
Set the ToolTip Assistance to the desired level. The default is normal. This affects how often tooltips
display in the drawing area. See
on page 92.
Username
■
Username is the identifier Revit Architecture associates with a particular session. The first time Revit
Architecture is run on a workstation, it uses the Windows login name as the default Username. You can
change and save the Username. In subsequent sessions on the same workstation, Revit Architecture
defaults to the saved Username, not the Windows login name.
