Parameter
Value
: Bridge priority value ranging from 0 to 65535. By default, the bridge priority is
32768.
Description
Using the
bridge stp priority
command, you can configure the bridge priority. Using
the
undo bridge stp priority
command, you can restore the default bridge priority.
Bridge ID comprises the bridge priority and the MAC address of bridge. The bridge with
smaller ID will be elected as the root bridge of the whole spanning tree. Therefore, the
bridge priority will decide whether a bridge can be elected as the root bridge of the
whole spanning tree. If the priorities of all the bridges in the network are the same, the
bridge with the smallest MAC address will be elected as the root bridge. In the case that
the STP is enabled, changing the priority of a bridge will cause the recomputation of the
spanning tree.
Example
# Configure the priority of the bridge to 500.
[3Com]
bridge stp priority 500

Parameter
seconds
: Time value of the Forward Delay timer of bridge, in the range of 4 to 200
seconds. By default, the value of the Forward Delay timer is 15 seconds.
Description
Using the
bridge stp timer forward-delay
command, you can configure the time value
of the Forward Delay timer of bridge. Using the
undo bridge stp timer forward-delay
command, you can restore the default time value of the Forward Delay timer.
Link faults will cause the network to recompute the spanning tree structure. However,
the recomputed Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs) cannot be propagated throughout
