SNMPv3 engineID string in hexadecimal format, which is 5 to 32 bytes in
length. By default, it is “Enterprise number of 3Com Corporation, Inc. (800007DB) +
device information”. Device information is determined by the product, so it may be an
IP address, MAC address of self-defined hexadecimal figure string.
Description
Using the
snmp-agent local-engineid
command, you can configure a unique ID for
the router. Using the
undo snmp-agent local-engineid
command, you can restore
the default SNMPv3 engineID.
Changing engineID will deactivate the configured SNMPv3 user, and the user name
should be re-configured.
Normally, the default engineID is unique. If you want to set a familiar ID, make sure
that it is unique in the overall network.
