Upgrading a System Controller for iSCSI
The controllers can connect to the hosts via FCICs or an FCIC and a Network Interface Card
(NIC) for iSCSI communications. The table below shows the supported configurations and the
slot where the NIC should be installed.
Important
: Replacing an FCIC with a NIC is not supported.

To upgrade a controller for iSCSI communications:
Upgrade the Controllers and ICON:
1. Upgrade the ICON to Release 6.3 or higher. See “Updating ICON to Release 6.3” at
http://support.xiotech.com.
2. Upgrade the firmware on all controllers to 8.0
or higher by using the Updates view in ICON
Manager.
Shut Down One Controller:
3. In ICON Manager, select the Emprise system with the controller you want to upgrade.
4. Open the Physical View.
5. Select the controller you want to upgrade and choose Shut Down Controller. A message
appears, prompting you to confirm that you want to shut down the controller. Click Yes.
Note
: If the system has only one controller, choose Shut Down Emprise.
