Emprise 7000 Installation and Service Guide 112
4. Type
upgrade --mrc=<
MRC_firmware_file_name
>
to transfer the file from ISE local memory
to an interim bootable location. The CLI displays the message
Firmware upgrade in
progress...
and the upgrade status.
This process can require several minutes.
If a power failure occurs during this step, the ISE restores the pre-upgrade firmware to both
MRCs, terminates the upgrade process, and clears the uploaded file from ISE memory when
power is restored. If you reconnect to the ISE through a remote console and enter the
upgrade --status
command, the Status field in the display reads
Upgrade interrupted,
backing out
. This process can require several minutes. The progress percentage may reset
to zero as various segments of memory are being restored. When the Status field in the
upgrade --status
display reads
Upgrade failed
with an Error Code of Interrupted, the
restoration process is complete.
5. Monitor the progress of the upgrade by repeatedly typing
upgrade --status
. The display
shows the percentage of completion as various segments of memory are being upgraded.
When the status displayed
is
Waiting for commit
, proceed to the next page.
Step 3: Commit the Firmware
During this step, the MRC Status in the
show mrc
display is shown as
Warning <MRC FW
Update In Progress>
for each MRC in turn.
To
complete
the upgrade:
1. Type
upgrade --commit
to restart the ISE using the new firmware and create a backup copy
of the new firmware, overwriting the pre-upgrade firmware.
•
All parameter settings, volume configurations, host-volume mappings, and other system
information are preserved.
•
The ISE restarts using the new firmware in both MRCs. When the ISE restarts,
connectivity to the remote console is interrupted.
•
The file you uploaded is cleared from the ISE’s local memory.
2. Wait about 30 seconds and then reconnect to the ISE through a remote console.
3. Type
upgrade --status
to monitor the progress as the pre-upgrade firmware is overwritten.
•
The Progress field in the status display reads
Updating backup firmware
. This
process can require several minutes. The progress percentage may reset to zero as
various segments of memory are being upgraded.
•
When the upgrade process is complete, the
upgrade --status
display shows the status as
Upgrade successful
, the name of the file used in the upgrade, and the completion date.
If a power failure occurs during this step, the ISE completes the upgrade process when
power is restored. If you reconnect to the ISE through a remote console and enter the
upgrade --status
command, the Status field in the display reads
Upgrade Completing
.
This process can require several minutes. The progress percentage may reset to zero as
various segments of memory are being restored. When the upgrade process is complete, the
CLI
upgrade --status
display shows the status as
Upgrade successful
, the name of the file
used in the upgrade, and the completion date.
